Abbott to spin off Nutrition unit with $8.5B sales into independent company by end of 2027
ABTAbbott Laboratories
Abbott Laboratories announced its intention to separate its global nutrition business into an independent, publicly traded company through a tax-free distribution to shareholders. The new entity will generate approximately $8.5 billion in annual sales and feature iconic brands including Ensure, Similac, and Pedialyte. Abbott expects the transaction to close by the end of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and board approval. Following the separation, Abbott will retain its medical devices, diagnostics, and established medicines portfolio with projected sales of approximately $42 billion. Daniel Salvadori is set to become CEO of the new Nutrition company. This strategic move aims to unlock value by allowing both entities to pursue distinct growth strategies aligned with their specific investment profiles. Abbott Laboratories operates as a global healthcare leader providing medical devices, diagnostics, established medicines, and nutrition products.
