First Majestic suspends NAFTA arbitration against Mexico over legacy tax settlement framework until Dec 31

First Majestic Silver Corp. has agreed with the Government of Mexico to temporarily suspend its NAFTA Chapter 11 arbitration proceedings regarding a legacy tax issue involving its subsidiary, Primero Empresa Minera S.A. de C.V. The tribunal issued an order suspending the case until December 31, 2026, as both parties work to finalize and implement a settlement framework agreed upon in principle. If a final settlement is not reached by year-end, proceedings will resume unless extended into early 2027. First Majestic Silver Corp. operates silver and gold mines in Mexico and the United States.
