Galmed Pharmaceuticals announced successful first-in-human proof-of-concept clinical study results for Colospan’s novel intraoperative tissue assessment technology. The prospective, single-arm feasibility study enrolled 32 colorectal cancer patients at three leading Israeli medical centers and demonstrated the technical feasibility of quantitatively measuring colon tissue compliance using an ex-vivo methodology. All 32 patients yielded successful measurements with no failures or procedure-related issues. This new platform complements Colospan’s existing CG-100 intraluminal bypass device, expanding the subsidiary's product pipeline into a second technology platform for colorectal surgery aimed at supporting intraoperative surgical decision-making and identifying risks of Low Anterior Resection Syndrome.
