Jazz Pharmaceuticals plc completed its acquisition of Actio Biosciences, Inc., a Delaware corporation, for an upfront payment of $820 million on September 15, 2026. Following the transaction, Actio became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jazz. The acquisition adds ABS-1230, a clinical-stage potential first-in-class precision therapy targeting KCNT1-related epilepsy, to Jazz's pipeline. ABS-1230 is an orally available small molecule KCNT1 inhibitor that has received Fast Track, Rare Pediatric Disease, and Orphan Drug Product designations from the U.S. FDA. Actio spun out non-ABS-1230 programs into a new private entity funded by existing investors, with Jazz retaining a minority stake. Jazz Pharmaceuticals plc is a global biopharmaceutical company focused on developing life-changing medicines for patients with rare diseases.
