JetBlue posts $257M Q3 net loss; raises 4Q RASM outlook to 18-22% YoY
JBLUJetblue Airways Corp
JetBlue Airways reported a third-quarter net loss of $257 million, or $0.68 per share, widening from the prior-year loss of $143 million due to a 57% surge in fuel costs. Operating revenue grew 21.1% year-over-year to $2.8 billion, driven by an 18.4% increase in revenue per available seat mile (RASM) as resilient demand and improved yield management offset higher expenses. The airline expects fourth-quarter RASM growth of 18-22% year-over-year and adjusted operating margin expansion of 1-2 percentage points despite fuel prices forecasted to be 85% higher than the prior period. JetBlue also provided full-year guidance projecting $3.95 per gallon average fuel costs, approximately $590 million in interest expense, and capital expenditures near $850 million. The company operates as a low-cost carrier serving destinations across the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada, and Europe.
