NuRAN Wireless announced a pilot program in Nigeria, conducted with partner Infratel, to evaluate Starlink low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite service as a high-performance backhaul solution for rural telecommunications infrastructure. The company has no direct contractual relationship with Starlink or SpaceX; the service is obtained through third-party providers. This initiative aims to demonstrate how LEO connectivity can accelerate 4G migration and enable edge AI, local compute, and NuEnergy services at remote sites where terrestrial options are constrained. If successful, NuRAN intends to replicate this model across its network of over 5,000 contracted sites in markets such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Benin, and Cameroon. NuRAN Wireless is a rural telecommunications infrastructure company connecting remote and underserved communities across Africa through its Network-as-a-Service model.
