SES announced the successful completion of Rendez-vous 1 (RDV1) for the EU's IRIS² programme, confirming readiness to proceed with implementation and validating baseline costs and technical requirements. SES’s expected capital commitment for the MEO segment is up to €1.35 billion, covering the deployment of 18 satellites with targeted service entry in 2030. The investment includes approximately 90% commercially exploitable capacity, generating long-term revenue opportunities across government, mobility, enterprise, and cloud connectivity markets. SES will design payloads and perform assembly, integration, and testing in Luxembourg, while leading user terminal development and operations. The contract’s Internal Rate of Return is expected to meet a minimum 10% hurdle rate. SES operates in the global satellite communications industry, providing integrated multi-orbit connectivity solutions for government and commercial customers.
