TMC The Metals Company announced that NOAA published a Notice of Intent in the Federal Register to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement for its USA-B exploration license application under the Deep Seabed Hard Mineral Resources Act. This regulatory milestone follows NOAA's certification of the application on May 26, 2026. The USA-B area covers approximately 122,000 square kilometers in the Clarion Clipperton Zone and contains an estimated 1.02 billion tonnes of polymetallic nodules rich in nickel, cobber, copper, manganese, and rare earth elements. TMC USA is also advancing a separate application for the USA-A area submitted in January 2026. The company operates in the deep-sea mining industry, developing critical metals from seafloor polymetallic nodules.
