TransAlta reported H1 2026 net earnings attributable to common shareholders of $48 million (CAD), a recovery from a $66 million loss in H1 2025. Adjusted EBITDA declined 20% to $495 million due to lower Alberta spot prices and no production at Centralia Unit 2, partially offset by gains from the Far North acquisition and favorable hedge settlements. The company announced a $1 billion acquisition of Mountain Peak Power and Canyon Peak Power in Colorado, funded via a $350 million equity offering priced at $19.20 per share. Executive leadership changed with Joel Hunter succeeding John Kousinioris as CEO. TransAlta operates as a diversified power generator across Canada, the U.S., and Western Australia.
