Tvardi Therapeutics announced the selection of ulcerative colitis as the initial disease indication for its next-generation STAT3 inhibitor, TTI-109. This strategic pivot follows a successful Phase 1 healthy volunteer study demonstrating that TTI-109 modulates multiple immune cell populations implicated in UC pathology, including up to 76% reduction in pathogenic Th17 subsets and significant suppression of B cells. The company plans to initiate a clinical trial for TTI-109 in patients with moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis in 2027, pending Investigational New Drug application clearance and additional funding.
