Aura Minerals agrees to acquire Brazilian gold operations for R$612M ($118M) to cut costs by $150-$200 per ounce
AUGOAura Minerals Inc.
Aura Minerals Inc. announced a definitive agreement to acquire Newco, which holds the mining fleet and workforce for its Apoena, Almas, and Borborema gold operations in Brazil, bringing these activities in-house by January 2027. The transaction carries an enterprise value of R$612 million (approximately US$118 million), with up to R$250 million payable in cash and the remainder consisting of assumed lease financing and contingent payments. This strategic move is expected to reduce all-in sustaining costs by US$150 to US$200 per ounce of gold sold across the three operations starting in 2027, while improving equipment reliability and operational control. Closing is subject to customary conditions, including antitrust clearance from Brazil's CADE. Aura Minerals Inc. operates gold and base metal mining projects in the Americas.
