On July 31, 2026, Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. and Brookfield Corporation completed the acquisition of Oaktree, purchasing the remaining 26% interest to achieve 100% ownership. Total consideration was approximately $3.0 billion, paid in cash and shares of BN and BAM. The transaction integrates Oaktree’s credit management expertise into Brookfield’s platform, which now manages over $365 billion in credit assets. Howard Marks and Bruce Karsh will serve as Co-Chairs of Oaktree. This acquisition strengthens Brookfield's position as a leading global alternative asset manager specializing in infrastructure, energy, private equity, real estate, and credit.
