The European Central Bank informed Banco Santander of its decision regarding minimum prudential capital requirements effective January 1, 2027. The Pillar 2 requirement is set at 1.65%, a reduction from the previous year's 1.74%, driven by the removal of add-ons related to non-performing exposure provisioning. Consequently, the consolidated CET1 minimum rises slightly to 9.92% and total capital requirements increase to 14.14%. Santander reports maintaining a surplus over these thresholds with actual ratios of 12.69% for CET1 and 17.01% as of September 30, 2026. The bank operates in the global banking and financial services industry.
