Quebec grants environmental approval for Windfall gold project, paving way for construction

GFIGold Fields Ltd

Gold Fields Limited secured the Certificate of Authorisation from Québec's Ministry of the Environment on October 30, 2026, for its Windfall Project. This principal environmental authorisation confirms completion of the impact assessment and allows the company to proceed with construction and full project development. The approval follows a June 2026 Impact and Benefit Agreement with the Cree First Nation. Windfall is a high-grade underground gold mine expected to produce approximately 300,000 ounces annually once ramped up. Gold Fields will progress its Final Investment Decision subject to Board approval, with an updated construction schedule and capital estimate expected by February 2027. Site activities, including underground work paused in August 2026, are set to resume shortly. Gold Fields is a globally diversified gold producer operating mines across Australia, South Africa, Ghana, Chile, Peru, and Canada.
