Canada designates Pacific Link project as a Project of National Interest under Building Canada Act

Pembina Pipeline Corporation announced that the Pacific Link project, formerly known as the West Coast Oil Pipeline, has been listed by the Government of Canada as a Project of National Interest under the Building Canada Act. This designation provides greater regulatory certainty through a streamlined federal review process led by the Major Projects Office and supported by the Canada Energy Regulator. Pembina holds a 10 percent economic interest during construction with an option to acquire up to an additional 10 percent upon commercial operation, retaining full discretion over any final investment decision without at-risk development capital prior to that point. Trans Mountain Corporation remains responsible for regulatory processes, stakeholder engagement, and construction. The company operates in the energy transportation and midstream services industry.
