Petrobras confirmed a new gas discovery in the Sandia-1 exploratory well located in Block GUA-OFF-O, deep waters offshore Colombia. The well is situated approximately 42 kilometers from the coast at a water depth of 1251 meters and is positioned near existing discoveries including Sirius-1, Sirius-2, and Copoazu-1. Drilling commenced on December 6, 2026, and reached final depth on July 29, 2026. Petrobras International Braspetro B.V – Colombia Branch holds a 44.44% operator interest in the consortium alongside partner Ecopetrol S.A., which holds 55.56%. The company intends to evaluate detected gas zones through well logs and laboratory analysis to support its long-term strategy of replenishing reserves. Petrobras is an integrated energy company engaged in oil and gas exploration, production, refining, and distribution.
