Federal Court upholds environmental licenses, enabling Sigma Lithium to resume mining operations

SGMLSigma Lithium Corp

A Federal Court of Appeals upheld Sigma Lithium's environmental licenses, overturning a local emergency ruling that had suspended them. This benchmark legal decision enables the full resumption of mining-industrial operations at the Grota do Cirilo project in Brazil. The court recognized the significant economic importance of the company to the Vale do Jequitinhonha region, noting it supports approximately 19,000 direct and indirect jobs across 12 municipalities. Sigma Lithium confirmed that existing mine and processing capacity is sufficient to meet its guidance for annualized lithium oxide concentrate production of 330,000 tonnes by year-end 2027 without requiring additional capital expenditure. The company operates as the largest producer of industrial-mineral lithium oxide concentrate in the Americas.
