SpyGlass Pharma acquires Advanced Vision Science for $13M to secure IOL manufacturing

On October 1, 2026, SpyGlass Pharma acquired 100% of Advanced Vision Science (AVS) for approximately $13 million in cash. AVS was the existing supplier of intraocular lenses to SpyGlass Pharma and is a subsidiary of Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. The acquisition secures scalable commercial manufacturing capacity for SpyGlass Pharma's lead product candidate, the BIM-IOL System, and accelerates its ability to expand its lens portfolio with premium options like toric and extended depth-of-focus lenses. Under related agreements, AVS will continue supplying lenses to Santen in Japan and license its technology to other global companies. SpyGlass Pharma is a late-stage biopharmaceutical company developing sustained drug delivery solutions for chronic eye conditions.
