Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A. (SQM) and Wesfarmers Limited (ASX: WES) have announced a final investment decision to expand the Mt Holland lithium project, which will double spodumene concentrate production from 380,000 to 760,000 tonnes per year. SQM's estimated capital expenditure for the expansion project is between US$450 million and US$500 million, with construction of a second concentrator is expected to commence in the second half of 2027 and production expansion volumes expected in first half of 2030. SQM is a global company that develops and produces products for renewable energy and technology industries through lithium, lithium concentrate, and potassium nitrate markets.
