Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A. reported net income of US$1,024.7 million (US$3.59 per share) for the six months ended June 30, 2026, a 353.5% increase from US$225.9 million in the prior year period. Total revenues reached US$4,228.5 million, up 103.4% year-over-year, driven by record lithium sales volumes exceeding 84 thousand metric tons of Lithium Carbonate Equivalent (LCE) and strong iodine pricing. The company also announced a US$3 billion capital investment for the Salar Futuro project and an expansion of its Mt. Holland mine in Australia. SQM operates in the chemical and mining industry, producing lithium, iodine, potassium nitrate, and specialty plant nutrients.
Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A. (SQM) and Wesfarmers Limited (ASX: WES) have announced a final investment decision to expand the Mt Holland lithium project, which will double spodumene concentrate production from 380,000 to 760,000 tonnes per year. SQM's estimated capital expenditure for the expansion project is between US$450 million and US$500 million, with construction of a second concentrator is expected to commence in the second half of 2027 and production expansion volumes expected in first half of 2030.
