Israeli regulator halts ZIM-Hapag-Lloyd merger review after Hapag-Lloyd misses proposal deadline

ZIMZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.

ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. received a letter from the Israeli Government Companies Authority (GCA) on September 29, 2026, stating that the regulator will cease handling its pending application for approval of changes to the special state share related to the merger with Hapag-Lloyd. The GCA determined this action because Hapag-Lloyd and FIMI failed to submit a detailed revised proposal for post-closing operations by the deadline previously set in response to an information request. Hapag-Lloyd intends to submit a new, fully detailed proposal to seek approval from the GCA and the State of Israel regarding both the special state share and the merger transaction. ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. operates as a global container shipping company providing integrated logistics services.
