BioVie Inc. announced topline results from its Phase 2 SUNRISE-PD trial evaluating bezisterim in early-stage Parkinson’s disease patients. The study met prespecified endpoints, demonstrating statistically significant improvements over placebo on motor and non-motor symptoms assessed by MDS-UPDRS and a composite EPNIC-15 endpoint (Cohen’s d = -0.94). Bezisterim also reduced plasma biomarkers of neurodegeneration and systemic inflammation, with 283 of 380 proteins shifting in directions suggesting slowed disease progression.
