Sun Life Financial Inc. and Wilton Re announced a strategic partnership to establish Windsor Life Re, a U.S. and Bermuda-domiciled affiliated reinsurer managed by Wilton Re. The new entity will be supported by approximately US$900 million in capital commitments from both parties and is expected to deploy up to US$10 billion in assets at scale. SLC Management, Sun Life's global institutional alternatives asset manager, will serve as the lead asset manager for Windsor Life Re's standalone reinsurance vehicle managing up to US$10 billion. The partnership involves reinsuring an initial in-force block of approximately US$1.7 billion from Wilton Re, with future business ceded on a quota share basis. The venture is expected to launch in the first half of 2027 subject to regulatory approvals.
