Recent Updates — VALE
Vale's subsidiary Vale Base Metals is advancing the Coarse Particle Flotation project at its Salobo Copper Complex in Brazil, targeting a start-up in the first half of 2028. This timeline is approximately one year ahead of schedule and will increase annual ore processing capacity by 6 million tonnes to 42 million tonnes. Annual copper production is projected to rise by up to 30,000 tonnes, accompanied by 15,000 ounces of gold as a by-product. Wheaton Precious Metals has agreed to provide US$ 40 million in milestone-based funding, reducing Vale's capital expenditure requirement from an estimated US$ 225-275 million down to approximately US$ 175 million. This initiative supports Vale's strategy to reach 700,000 tonnes of annual copper production by 2035. Vale S.A. is a major global mining company focused on the extraction and processing of iron ore, nickel, copper, and other minerals.
