Prospector 5 rig sinks during jacking operations offshore Gabon; five personnel unaccounted for

Borr Drilling confirmed that its Prospector 5 drilling rig sank after a punch-through event during preload activities offshore Gabon on October 24, 2026. The incident occurred while the rig was preparing for a planned drilling campaign contracted to support BW Energy. Of the 115 personnel onboard at the time of the accident, 110 have been safely accounted for, but five individuals remain missing as extensive search and rescue operations continue. Borr Drilling has activated its onshore emergency response team and is coordinating with local authorities and its customer to address the situation.
