CMB.TECH NV announced that Mineral Europa, the world's first ammonia-powered dry bulk vessel, has embarked on its maiden voyage to Australia. This event marks a significant milestone in decarbonizing shipping, demonstrating that large ocean-going ships can operate without CO2 emissions using green ammonia fuel. The company plans to scale up this technology, with twenty-one additional ammonia-powered ships scheduled for delivery between now and 2029, including eighteen dry bulk vessels, one container ship, and two chemical tankers. Most of these new vessels are expected to be delivered within the next nine months. CMB.TECH is also building a supporting fuel ecosystem involving ammonia storage solutions and bunker barges. The company operates as a diversified maritime group with a fleet of approximately 235 vessels and offers hydrogen and ammonia fuel services.
