Nutrien indefinitely shuts down Trinidad Nitrogen operations due to natural gas constraints

Nutrien Ltd. announced the indefinite shutdown of its Trinidad Nitrogen operations at the Point Lisas Facility following a strategic review and stakeholder engagement. The decision addresses ongoing natural gas supply uncertainties that have constrained free cash flow contribution since a controlled shutdown began in October 2025. Management stated this move is optimal for enhancing free cash flow and return on invested capital. The company confirmed no impact to its 2026 Nitrogen sales volume guidance, as it assumed no production from the Trinidad facility during the year. Nutrien plans to meet customer demand through North American assets via reliability improvements and debottlenecking projects.
