Standard Lithium reports $5.9B NPV PEA for Franklin Project producing ~70,000 tpa lithium carbonate
SLIStandard Lithium Ltd.
Standard Lithium filed a NI 43-101 technical report disclosing the results of a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) for its Franklin Project in East Texas. The project, developed through the Smackover Lithium partnership with Equinor, targets approximately 70,000 tonnes per annum of battery-quality lithium carbonate from the Smackover Formation brine reservoirs. The PEA indicates an after-tax net present value (NPV) of $5.9 billion at an 8% discount rate and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 24.0%, with a payback period of 3.1 years. Initial capital costs are estimated at $3,496 million, while average operating costs are projected at $4,226 per tonne of lithium carbonate. The assessment also outlines an opportunity to produce approximately 50,000 tonnes per annum of elemental bromine as a secondary revenue stream. Standard Lithium is a developer focused on extracting lithium and other minerals from brine reservoirs in the United States.
