Theriva Biologics announced the dosing of the first patient in the VIRAGE2 Phase 2a clinical trial on August 6, 2026. This proof-of-concept study evaluates more frequent repeated dosing of VCN-01 (zabilugene almadenorepvec) combined with standard-of-care gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel chemotherapy in first-line metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma patients. Enrollment is expected to complete in the second half of 2026, with initial pharmacodynamic and safety data anticipated by Q3 2027. The trial aims to refine the dosing regimen for a potential pivotal Phase 3 study based on positive survival signals observed in the prior VIRAGE Phase 2b trial.
