Ecopetrol appoints Joaquín Gutiérrez Caballero as CEO to lead renewal amid challenging market conditions

Ecopetrol S.A.'s Board of Directors unanimously appointed Joaquín Gutiérrez Caballero as Chief Executive Officer and principal legal representative, effective September 28, 2026. This permanent appointment concludes the interim tenure of Camilo Barco, which ends on September 27, 2026. The selection followed a process by the Compensation, Nomination and Culture Committee to identify leadership capable of managing the company's renewal amid challenging market conditions. Gutiérrez Caballero brings over 30 years of experience and aims to strengthen value creation and stakeholder engagement. Ecopetrol is Colombia’s largest integrated energy company, dominating hydrocarbon production, refining, petrochemicals, and gas distribution while holding significant stakes in power transmission and road concessions across Latin America.
