Ecopetrol S.A. reported that its cybersecurity incident, previously disclosed on July 17, 2026, was limited to unauthorized file downloads. The company confirmed that no data integrity was compromised despite attempts by the threat actor to destroy, delete, or encrypt data. User identities for the 3,300 infiltrated accounts and access credentials remained secure. Transactional technology solutions within the company's digital ecosystem and its subsidiaries were not compromised. Operational activities continue without interruption while the company collaborates with Colombian authorities, including ColCERT and the National Police, to manage extortion threats and classify downloaded information. Ecopetrol is an integrated energy company involved in hydrocarbon production, refining, and power transmission.
