The European Commission approved Etcamah (camizestrant) in combination with a CDK4/6 inhibitor for treating adult patients with ER-positive, HER2-negative locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer who exhibit an emergent ESR1 mutation. The approval follows Phase III SERENA-6 trial results, which demonstrated that the combination reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 56% compared to standard-of-care aromatase inhibitor plus CDK4/6 inhibitor treatment. This marks the 11th new medicine for AstraZeneca out of 20 expected launches by 2030. AstraZeneca is a biopharmaceutical company that develops and commercializes prescription medicines.
